The EMPI 00-3373-0 is a redesigned version of the classic dual exhaust system, specifically engineered to provide the necessary clearance for dual carburetor setups. This system eliminates the common interference issues between the exhaust piping and dual intake manifolds, making it a versatile choice for performance-oriented VW engines. It is supplied in a raw steel finish and includes the necessary gaskets for installation.

Vehicle Fitment & Engine Compatibility

This exhaust system is designed for Type 1 based air-cooled engines. It is compatible with the following:

• Engine Size: 1200cc, 1300cc, 1500cc, and 1600cc base motors.
• Carburetion: Works with both Single Carburetor and Dual Carburetor setups.
• Models: Ideal for VW Beetles, Karmann Ghias, and custom Dune Buggies or Sand Rails using a standard upright engine configuration.

Strip the Storage Paint: The black coating found on this exhaust is a temporary "storage paint" designed to prevent rust during shipping and warehouse storage. It is not a high-heat finish and will smoke or peel immediately upon reaching operating temperature. For a professional result, we recommend stripping this coating and applying a dedicated high-temp header paint or having the system ceramic coated before final installation.

Check Linkage Clearance: While this unit is specifically "clearanced" for dual carbs, the variety of aftermarket intake manifolds and throttle linkages (such as Hex-bar vs. Cable-pull) means space can still be tight. Always perform a "mock-up" fitment to ensure your linkage moves freely throughout its entire range of motion without contacting the exhaust tubes.

Upgrade Your Hardware: To ensure a leak-free seal and prevent future maintenance headaches, use high-quality copper exhaust nuts during installation. Copper nuts are self-locking and resistant to vibrating loose under heat cycles. Additionally, applying a small amount of high-temp anti-seize to the exhaust studs will prevent the nuts from seizing, which protects your cylinder head studs from snapping during future removals.
