PRO TIPS FROM THE SHOP
1. The Secret to Pushrod Tube Seals
When installing the pushrod tube seals included in this Elring kit, resist the urge to use heavy RTV silicone. Instead, apply a very light film of clean engine oil or a dedicated gasket tack to the seal surfaces. This allows the seal to "seat" naturally as you tighten the cylinder heads down. Ensure your pushrod tubes are properly stretched to the factory length (approx. 190mm to 191mm) before installation; if the tubes are too short, even the best Elring seals won''t be able to bridge the gap, leading to the common "drip" that plagues many amateur builds.
2. Rear Main Seal Precision
The rear main seal (flywheel seal) is the most critical component in this set. Before installation, inspect the crankshaft surface for any grooving or burrs. If a groove exists, the new seal may not seat properly. We recommend using a dedicated seal driver tool to ensure the seal goes in perfectly square. If you cock the seal even slightly during installation, it will fail prematurely.
