1. Clean Before the First Start: During the manufacturing and shipping process, oils and fingerprints can get on the stainless steel surface. Before you start your engine for the first time after installation, wipe down the entire exhaust system with denatured alcohol or a high-quality degreaser. If oils or fingerprints are left on the 304 stainless steel when it reaches operating temperature, they can "bake" into the metal, causing permanent stains on the finish.

2. Use High-Temp Anti-Seize: Because this system features heavy-duty 9.5mm flanges and stainless steel construction, it is built to last much longer than standard steel exhausts. To ensure you can easily remove or service the system years down the road, always apply a copper-based high-temperature anti-seize compound to the exhaust studs. This prevents the nuts from "galling" or seizing to the studs due to the extreme heat cycles of an aircooled engine.

3. Verify Dual Carburetor Linkage Clearance: While this specific model is redesigned to be compatible with dual carburetors, every custom VW build is slightly different. After mounting the exhaust but before final tightening, cycle your throttle linkage through its full range of motion. Ensure that the crossbar or linkage arms do not come into contact with the 38mm exhaust tubes.
