1. Critical Cam Break-In Procedure
Never install new lifters on a used camshaft, or used lifters on a new camshaft, as they wear together in a specific pattern. When installing this Scat Lube-A-Lobe set, it is mandatory to use a high-quality moly-based break-in grease on both the lifter faces and the cam lobes. Upon the very first start-up, you must run the engine between 2,000 and 2,500 RPM for a continuous 20 minutes. Do not let the engine idle during this time. This ensures that the cam and lifters mate properly and that the Lube-A-Lobe holes are immediately pressurized with oil to prevent galling.
