PRO TIPS
1. Flywheel Resurfacing is Non-Negotiable
When installing a high-performance 6-puck disc like this one, it is absolutely vital that you start with a fresh mating surface. Never install a new performance disc on a used, heat-spotted, or "mirrored" flywheel. We highly recommend having your flywheel professionally stepped and resurfaced by a machine shop or replacing it with a new forged 200mm flywheel. A fresh surface ensures the ceramic pucks can "bed in" correctly, preventing premature wear and ensuring you get the full torque-holding capacity the disc was designed to provide.
2. Observe the Break-In Period
While it is tempting to go straight to the drag strip or the dunes as soon as the engine is back in, this disc requires a proper break-in period. Ceramic-metallic pucks need time to heat-cycle and mate perfectly with the pressure plate and flywheel surfaces. We recommend at least 200 to 300 miles of varied city drivingwhere you are shifting and engaging the clutch frequentlybefore performing high-RPM launches or "clutch kicks." Skipping this step can lead to "chatter" or localized overheating of the friction pads, which will shorten the life of the unit.
3. Pair with the Right Pressure Plate
To maximize the effectiveness of a 6-puck sprung disc, you should pair it with a heavy-duty pressure plate, such as a Kennedy Stage 1 or Stage 2. While this disc will fit a stock pressure plate, the increased clamping force of a performance plate works in harmony with the aggressive friction material of the pucks to prevent slip at high RPMs. Also, ensure your clutch cable is properly adjusted with about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch of free-play at the pedal to ensure the throw-out bearing isn''t constantly riding against the pressure plate, which can cause heat build-up and premature failure.
