1. Prioritize Precision Machining and Cleanliness

Installing a 94mm kit is not a "drop-in" procedure; it requires professional machining of both your engine case and your cylinder heads. When you receive your components back from the machine shop, it is vital to scrub the cooling fins and the internal bores of the cylinders with hot soapy water to remove any lingering metal shavings or shipping preservatives. Even a tiny amount of grit can score your brand-new forged pistons during the first few rotations. Always "dry fit" your cylinders into the case first to ensure they seat fully and flat against the deck without interference, as any casting flash on the case can prevent a proper seal.

2. Calculate and Set Your Deck Height Correctly

With a 1915cc build, your deck height (the distance from the top of the piston at Top Dead Center to the top edge of the cylinder) is critical for controlling your compression ratio and preventing engine knock. We recommend aiming for a deck height between .040'' and .060'' for a performance street engine. If your deck height is too tight, you risk the piston hitting the head at high RPM; if it is too loose, you lose quench efficiency and power. Use copper head shims or base shims to fine-tune this measurement, and always CC your cylinder heads to know exactly what your final compression ratio will be before final assembly.
