It is compatible with standard VW air-cooled engine configurations but is specifically designed for vehicles where the rear bodywork has been modified or removed to accommodate a Baja-style rear end. Because it mounts directly to the firewall and trans mount, it provides superior stability and vibration resistance compared to standard body-mounted bumpers.

Pro Tech Tips

Tip 1: Reassembly and Shipping. Due to its size, this bumper must be cut in half for standard shipping. It includes slip tubes and hardware for reassembly, but for maximum structural integrity in high-impact off-road environments, we recommend professionally welding the joint back together once the bumper is properly aligned on your vehicle.

Tip 2: Surface Preparation. This unit arrives in raw steel. To prevent immediate surface rust and ensure a long-lasting finish, thoroughly degrease the tubes and apply a high-quality primer and paint, or have the unit powder-coated before final installation.

Tip 3: Exhaust Clearance. Always test-fit your exhaust system alongside the bumper before final welding or painting. Some high-mount performance headers or large merged exhaust systems may require slight adjustments or spacing to clear the double-tube design of the firewall mount.
