While it features a black storage coating, it is constructed from raw steel intended for custom finishing.

Pro Tech Tips for Installation

Strip and Recoat Before Installation: The black finish on this stinger is a temporary "storage paint" designed only to prevent rust during shipping. It will burn off almost immediately once the engine reaches operating temperature. For a long-lasting finish, we recommend stripping the storage coating and applying a high-quality, high-temperature header paint or having the part ceramic coated.

Ensure a Proper Seal: To prevent exhaust leaks and "popping" sounds, always use a fresh 3-bolt exhaust gasket and high-quality hardware when mounting the stinger to your header. Over-tightening can warp the flange, so tighten the bolts evenly in a circular pattern to ensure the gasket compresses uniformly across the collector face.

Verify Off-Road Clearance: Because this stinger extends 23-1/4 inches from the collector, it changes the exit point of your exhaust gases significantly. If you are running a rear cage or a specialized bumper on a Baja Bug or rail, mock up the fitment to ensure the stinger does not vibrate against the bodywork or chassis, which can lead to fatigue cracks over time.
