1. Neutral Tensioning is Key: When installing the EMPI Rear Engine Brace, it is vital to adjust the tension while the vehicle is sitting on its own weight on level ground. You do not want to "pre-load" the brace so tightly that it pulls the frame horns inward or pushes them out. Instead, adjust the threaded ends until the bar is snug and the pins slide in easily, then give it a half-turn of tension before tightening the jam nuts. This ensures the brace is ready to react to torque without putting constant stress on your chassis welds when the car is at rest.
2. Combine with Urethane Mounts: For the ultimate "planted" feel, we highly recommend pairing this chrome engine brace with a set of high-durometer urethane engine and transaxle mounts.
