PRO TIPS
PRO TIP 1: Proper O-Ring Lubrication. Before installing these covers for the first time, apply a very light film of clean engine oil or a dedicated O-ring lubricant to the rubber seal. This prevents the O-ring from binding or pinching as you torque the mounting bolts down. Because these are reusable, always inspect the O-ring for nicks or flat spots whenever you perform a valve adjustment. A well-maintained O-ring on a billet flange is the best defense against the "VW drip" that plagues lesser engines.
PRO TIP 2: Managing Crankcase Pressure. Since these covers come with welded bungs for -10 AN lines, don''t let that feature go to waste. For high-displacement engines (1914cc and up), we strongly recommend running braided lines from these covers to a dedicated breather box or oil vapor separator. This relieves internal pressure that can otherwise push oil past your crank seals or pulley, significantly increasing the longevity of your engine and keeping your engine bay much cleaner during high-load operation.
PRO TIP 3: Verification of Rocker Clearance. Even though these covers are designed with extra depth for high-lift rockers, it is a "Master Specialist" best practice to always rotate the engine by hand after the initial installation. Before firing the engine, remove the spark plugs and turn the crank 720 degrees using a pulley wrench. Listen and feel for any mechanical interference between the rocker arms and the interior of the cover. It is rare to have contact with these covers, but taking thirty seconds to check ensures your valvetrain remains safe and silent.
