Pro Tech Tips for Your VW Tow Bar

Apply a Durable Final Finish: This tow bar is shipped in a "raw steel" state with a very thin layer of paint intended only to prevent rust during shipping and storage. For long-lasting protection against the elements, we recommend cleaning, priming, and applying a high-quality chassis paint or powder coating before installation.

Unlock the Steering and Neutralize: When flat-towing your Volkswagen, you must leave the ignition key in the "on" or "accessory" position to ensure the steering column is unlocked. This allows the front wheels to track properly behind the tow vehicle. Additionally, always verify the transmission is in neutral and the emergency brake is fully disengaged.

Routine Hardware Inspection: Before every trip and at every rest stop, inspect the U-clamps and the coupler for tightness. Road vibrations can occasionally cause hardware to settle. For maximum safety, always use safety chains (not included) in addition to the tow bar to comply with towing regulations and provide a secondary fail-safe.
