1. Prevent Carbon Tracking with Proper Cleaning

When installing your new MSD 8470 rotor, always ensure the inside of the distributor cap is completely free of moisture and debris. Carbon tracking occurs when high voltage finds a path of least resistance across a dirty surface, effectively "burning" a trail into the plastic. Before seating the rotor, wipe down the distributor shaft and the interior of the cap with a clean, lint-free cloth. 2. Check Your Rotor Phasing
