PRO TIP 1: The "While You Are In There" Rule. Since you will be removing the rear drums to install this kit, this is the absolute best time to inspect and replace your rear axle seals. The 1967 swing axle is notorious for leaking gear oil into the brake drum area if the seals are worn. PRO TIP 2: Mastering the Star Adjusters. When installing the new adjusting stars and screws included in this kit, apply a very light coat of high-temperature anti-seize to the threads. This prevents the adjusters from seizing over time due to brake dust and moisture. Once the drums are on, tighten the adjusters until the wheel no longer turns by hand, then back them off approximately 3 to 4 clicks until the wheel spins freely with just a slight hint of "drag" from the shoes. This ensures the wheel cylinder doesn''t have to travel as far, giving you a much firmer brake pedal.

PRO TIP 3: Proper Bleeding Sequence. After installing the new wheel cylinders, you must bleed the air out of the hydraulic system. Always start at the wheel furthest from the master cylinder (the passenger side rear), then move to the driver''s side rear, then passenger front, and finally the driver''s side front. Use only fresh, high-quality DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid from a sealed container. Never reuse old fluid, as brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture, which can lead to internal corrosion of your brand-new wheel cylinders.
