Tech Tips & Installation Advice

• Setting the Gap: For the Bosch 009 distributor, the points should be gapped to .016" (0.4mm). Ensure the rubbing block of the points is sitting on the highest point of one of the four distributor cam lobes when taking your measurement.
• Cam Lubrication: To prevent the rubbing block from wearing down prematurely—which causes the points gap to close and retards your timing—always apply a very small amount of specialized high-temperature distributor cam grease to the cam lobes.
• The Condenser Pairing: If your points are frequently "burning" or showing blue discoloration on the contact surfaces, your condenser is likely failing. We always recommend replacing the condenser at the same time as the points to protect the new contact surfaces.
