Pro Tech Tips for Installation

Strip the Storage Paint: The black coating found on the header and muffler is designed strictly for rust prevention during shipping and storage. It is not a high-heat finish and will burn off quickly. For a professional and long-lasting look, sand off the storage paint and apply a high-quality, high-temperature header paint or ceramic coating before installation.

Apply Anti-Seize Lubricant: Due to the extreme heat cycles of the VW air-cooled engine, exhaust bolts are prone to seizing or snapping over time. Always apply a high-temperature anti-seize compound to the threads of the 3-bolt flange hardware and the cylinder head studs to ensure easier removal for future engine maintenance.

Inspect Heater Box Connections: This kit includes aluminum flex hoses for your heater system. When installing, ensure that the flex hoses are not compressed too tightly or rubbing against the body. A clear path for the air ensures your heater functions efficiently and prevents the hoses from vibrating against the chassis, which can create cabin noise.
