* Pack of 24 pieces.
OVERVIEW
When you are pushing your off-road machine to the absolute limit, the drivetrain is often the first place to show signs of fatigue. These EMPI .875-inch CV joint balls are engineered specifically for the legendary 930 CV joint, which has long been the gold standard for high-travel suspension setups in the air-cooled VW world. Whether you are piloting a long-travel sand rail through the dunes of Glamis or navigating a rugged Baja Bug through rocky terrain, the internal components of your 108mm CV joints endure massive amounts of heat, friction, and torque. Over time, the original balls can develop microscopic pitting, flat spots, or heat discoloration that leads to premature wear of the cage and race. By replacing your worn bearings with this precision-ground pack of 24, you can restore the smooth articulation and mechanical integrity of your CV joints without the high cost of replacing the entire assembly.
Precision is everything when it comes to high-performance CV joints. These EMPI replacement balls are manufactured from high-carbon, hardened steel to ensure they can withstand the extreme angularity and rotational speeds required by modern off-road racing and heavy-duty street applications. Because a standard 930 CV joint utilizes six balls per unit, this comprehensive pack of 24 provides exactly what you need to refresh a complete set of four CV jointscovering both the inner and outer positions on your left and right axles. Maintaining your drivetrain with high-quality components is the best way to prevent catastrophic failure on the trail, ensuring that your power is delivered efficiently to the ground while protecting your expensive chromoly cages and races from unnecessary damage caused by inconsistent bearing surfaces.

PRO TIPS
1. Thoroughly Inspect the Cage and Race
Before installing these new .875-inch balls, it is critical to perform a meticulous inspection of your CV joint cages and inner/outer races. Look for any signs of "dimpling" or "brinelling" where the old balls may have hammered into the metal surface. If you see deep grooves or any cracks in the cage windows, simply replacing the balls won''t solve your problem; you will need a full rebuild kit. However, if the surfaces are smooth and just showing light polishing, these new bearings will significantly extend the lifespan of your 930 joints and provide a much smoother rotation under load.
2. Use High-Temperature Moly Grease Only
The 930 CV joint generates an incredible amount of heat due to the high angles used in off-road suspension. When reassembling your joints with these new balls, never use standard chassis grease. You must use a high-quality, high-temperature Moly (Molybdenum Disulfide) grease specifically formulated for CV joints. We recommend filling the cavity until the grease is forced through the cage and around the balls. Proper lubrication is the only thing standing between a successful weekend and a seized joint that leaves you stranded in the middle of nowhere.
3. Proper Clocking and Assembly Technique
When you are putting your 930 CV joints back together with these new bearings, remember that "clocking" is essential. The wide lands on the inner race must line up with the narrow lands on the outer race (and vice versa) for the joint to articulate properly. If you assemble it incorrectly, the joint will lock up or have extremely limited travel. Once assembled, move the joint through its full range of motion by hand before installing it on the axle. It should feel smooth and free of any "notchy" sensations. If it feels tight, double-check your orientation before adding the boots and clamps.
