Optimize Your Hose Routing
To get the most out of your EMPI Billet Breather, always ensure that your breather hoses (typically running from the valve covers and the oil filler) maintain a consistent upward slope toward the breather box. If a hose has a "sag" or a low spot, oil vapor will condense and pool in that area, eventually creating a "trap" that blocks airflow and causes pressure to spike. By mounting the breather box at the highest point possible in the engine bay, you allow condensed oil to gravity-drain back into the engine, keeping the filters cleaner and the system functioning at peak efficiency.
Seal the NPT Threads Properly
The 3/8 NPT ports on this billet unit are tapered, which means they seal by thread interference. When installing your fittings, use a high-quality thread sealant or a small amount of Teflon tape, but be extremely careful not to wrap the tape over the end of the fitting.
