Pro Tech Tips for Installation

Tip 1: Ensure Clean Weld Surfaces. When welding this flange to your exhaust tubing, use a wire wheel or flap disc to remove all carbon, rust, and oil from the mating area. A clean surface is critical for achieving a deep-penetrating, leak-free weld on exhaust components.

Tip 2: Check for Flange Flatness. After welding, the heat can sometimes cause slight warping. Before final assembly, place the flange against a flat surface. If there is any wobble, use a large file or a belt sander to true the surface, ensuring a perfect seal against the gasket.

Tip 3: Use High-Temp Hardware and Anti-Seize. Exhaust bolts are subject to extreme heat cycles. Always use Grade 8 hardware and apply a copper-based high-temperature anti-seize to the threads. This prevents the bolts from seizing or snapping the next time you need to service your exhaust system.
