This adapter is designed for use with 1/8-inch NPT ports and sending units. Please note that many stock VW engine cases use a 10mm x 1.0 thread; an adapter may be required to convert the case port to 1/8-inch NPT before installing this T-fitting. It is commonly used on the following models:

PRO TIPS
Tip 1: Ensure Proper Grounding for Sending Units
Most oil pressure sending units, especially VDO styles, require a solid ground through the body of the sender to the engine case to function correctly. When using this brass T-adapter, avoid over-using Teflon tape on the threads. Excessive tape can insulate the connection and prevent the sender from grounding, leading to dead or erratic gauge readings. If you must use sealant, apply a small amount of liquid thread sealer to the middle of the threads, leaving the first few threads bare to ensure metal-to-metal contact between the adapter and the engine block.
Tip 2: Check for Clearance and Vibration Support
Adding a T-adapter and two sending units increases the "lever arm" length off the engine case. In high-vibration environments, such as off-road racing or high-RPM street builds, the weight of two heavy senders can put stress on the adapter. Always mock up the installation to ensure the senders do not interfere with your distributor, spark plug wires, or engine tinware. If the assembly feels heavy, consider using a remote relocation hose to move the T-adapter and senders off the engine block and onto the firewall or inner fender to prevent fatigue cracks in the brass.
Tip 3: Be Mindful of NPT vs. Metric Threading
It is a common mistake in the VW world to confuse 1/8-inch NPT with 10mm x 1.0 metric threads. While they look similar, they are not interchangeable and forcing them will ruin the threads on your engine case. Most stock VW oil pressure switch holes are 10mm. To use this 1/8-inch NPT adapter on a stock case, you must first install a 10mm male to 1/8-inch NPT female adapter. Always verify your thread pitch before installation to avoid costly damage to your magnesium or aluminum engine case.
