Tuning Your Backpressure for Maximum Performance
One of the biggest mistakes guys make is thinking they have to run the spark arrestor exactly as it comes out of the box. The beauty of the 5-inch disc system is the ability to tune your engine''s power band. If you feel the engine is "choking" at high RPMs, you should consider adding additional discs (sold separately). Each disc added increases the total exhaust flow area. For most standard 1600cc to 1914cc engines, the 5 included discs provide a great balance, but for those high-revving 2332cc monsters, adding a few more discs will let that motor breathe while still catching the sparks that could start a brush fire.
Precision Welding for a Leak-Free Seal
Since this is a weld-on unit, the quality of your installation determines the longevity of the part. Before you strike an arc, ensure that the 3-inch exhaust pipe is cut perfectly square and all burrs are removed. We recommend "tack welding" the unit in four spots around the circumference first to ensure it''s perfectly aligned with your header or tailpipe. Because exhaust systems are subject to intense vibration and thermal expansion, a full 360-degree TIG or MIG bead is essential.
