OVERVIEW
When it comes to putting power to the ground in a high-performance air-cooled Volkswagen, Kennedy Engineering stands as the undisputed industry standard. The Kennedy 200mm 6 Puck Clutch Disc is engineered for the enthusiast who has moved beyond the limits of a standard organic street disc and requires a component that can handle the violent torque loads of a built stroker engine or a high-revving race mill. Unlike traditional full-faced discs, the 6-puck design utilizes a sintered feramic metallic material that provides an incredibly aggressive bite and a significantly higher coefficient of friction. This disc is designed to eliminate the slipping and glazing that often plagues high-horsepower Beetle or Dune Buggy builds, ensuring that every ounce of energy from your crankshaft is delivered directly to the transaxle without hesitation. It is the definitive choice for drag racers, sand rail pilots, and serious street-strip builders who demand a positive, uncompromising lock-up every time the pedal is released.
The rigid hub construction of this Kennedy disc means there are no dampening springs to fail or compress under heavy loads, which is essential for maintaining drivetrain integrity during high-RPM launches. By utilizing six individual friction pads rather than a solid ring, this disc allows for superior heat dissipation and gas venting, preventing the heat soak that leads to clutch fade during intense competition. While the engagement is significantly firmer than a stock setup, the 6-puck configuration offers a slightly more manageable "slip" window compared to a 3 or 4-puck disc, making it the sweet spot for vehicles that see both track time and occasional spirited street use. When you install this Kennedy 200mm 6 Puck Disc, you aren''t just replacing a wear item; you are upgrading to a professional-grade racing component that is built to withstand the rigors of the most demanding air-cooled environments on the planet.

PRO TIPS
1. Mastering the Aggressive Engagement
Because this is a rigid 6-puck feramic disc, you must understand that the engagement will feel more like an "on-off" switch compared to the soft, gradual take-up of a stock organic disc. To prevent excessive drivetrain shock and "chatter" when starting from a stop, we recommend a slightly higher RPM launch than you might be used to. Do not attempt to "feather" or slip this clutch excessively for long periods, as feramic materials are designed to grab quickly. If you slip it too much during normal street driving, you will generate localized heat spots on the flywheel and pressure plate, which can lead to premature wear or warping of the mating surfaces. Trust the grab, and let the clutch do its job!
2. The Importance of Flywheel Resurfacing
Never install a high-performance 6-puck metallic disc against a used or glazed flywheel surface. The sintered feramic material is much harder than standard organic material and requires a fresh, clean, and perfectly flat surface to bed in properly. We strongly recommend having your 200mm flywheel professionally resurfaced with a stone grinder or replacing it entirely with a new forged chromoly flywheel. Additionally, ensure that you clean the flywheel and the pressure plate face thoroughly with brake cleaner to remove any shipping oil or fingerprints before assembly. Any contamination on the pucks can lead to uneven engagement and "shuddering" during the break-in period.
3. Pairing with the Correct Pressure Plate
To get the most out of your Kennedy 6-puck disc, you must pair it with the appropriate Kennedy pressure plate for your engine''s torque output. For most high-performance street and mild off-road engines (up to 150hp), a Kennedy Stage 1 (1700 lb) pressure plate is usually sufficient and keeps the pedal feel manageable. For drag racing or high-torque turbo applications, moving up to a Stage 2 (2100 lb) or Stage 3 (2600 lb) may be necessary. However, be aware that as you increase
