Designed to provide consistent fuel delivery, this adjustable unit allows you to fine-tune your pressure between 1 and 7 lbs. It is particularly critical for engines running Weber or Dellorto carburetors, which are highly sensitive to fuel pressure fluctuations that can cause flooding or lean conditions.

This regulator is a universal fit for aircooled Volkswagen applications, including the Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Bus, Type 3, and custom Dune Buggies or Woods Buggies. It is designed to work with standard fuel lines typically found on vintage VW setups. Tip 1: Dial in for Webers. Most Weber carburetors perform best at approximately 2.5 to 3.5 PSI. Setting your regulator higher than 4 PSI can overwhelm the needle and seat, leading to engine flooding and poor idle quality. Always start at a lower setting and adjust upward based on your specific carburetor requirements.

Tip 2: Verify with a Gauge. While the dial on the regulator provides a convenient reference, internal spring tensions can vary based on ambient temperature and age. We highly recommend installing an inline fuel pressure gauge during the initial setup to ensure the actual pressure matches the dial setting for maximum accuracy.

Tip 3: Avoid Heat Soak. For the longest service life and most consistent pressure, mount the regulator on the firewall or a cool area of the engine bay rather than directly to the engine block. Excessive heat and vibration can cause the regulator to fluctuate; using the 1538 bracket helps isolate the unit from these harsh conditions.
