OVERVIEW
For over half a century, the EMPI name has been synonymous with air-cooled performance and the iconic California look that defined a generation of Volkswagen enthusiasts. This EMPI Globe Emblem is more than just a decorative piece; it is a symbol of quality and a nod to the rich history of the VW scene. Whether you are putting the finishing touches on a ground-up restoration of a 1967 Beetle or adding some period-correct flair to a custom Dune Buggy, this die-cast emblem delivers the authentic aesthetic that only a genuine EMPI product can provide. The classic globe design, featuring the recognizable silhouette and bold lettering, serves as the perfect ''''jewelry'''' for your vehicle''s exterior, instantly elevating its curb appeal and signaling to other enthusiasts that you don''t settle for anything less than the best.
Engineered for durability and ease of use, this emblem eliminates the anxiety often associated with traditional badges that require drilling into your pristine bodywork. We know that every hole drilled is a potential invitation for rust, which is why this emblem features a high-strength, automotive-grade adhesive backing that provides a permanent bond without compromising the integrity of your sheet metal. The die-cast construction offers a substantial, high-quality feel that far surpasses flimsy plastic alternatives, ensuring that it can withstand the rigors of the road, the heat of the sun, and the spray of the car wash. From the decklid of a Type 3 to the quarter panels of a Karmann Ghia, this versatile emblem can be mounted virtually anywhere, giving you the creative freedom to customize your VW exactly the way you envisioned.

PRO TIPS
1. Surface Preparation is Key
To ensure your EMPI emblem stays put for years to come, the mounting surface must be absolutely free of wax, grease, and road grime. We recommend cleaning the area with a high-quality wax and grease remover or a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water. Even if your car looks clean, microscopic wax residues can prevent the adhesive from forming a permanent bond. Always use a lint-free microfiber cloth to avoid leaving fibers behind that could get trapped under the adhesive edge.
2. Precise Alignment Strategy
Because the adhesive on this emblem is designed for a permanent bond, you often only get one chance to get it straight. Don''t eyeball it! Use low-tack painter''s tape to create a level baseline on your fender or decklid. Measure from a fixed body line or trim piece on both sides to ensure the tape is perfectly horizontal. Once your tape line is set, dry-fit the emblem (with the backing still on) to check the visual balance before peeling the protective film and pressing it firmly into place.
3. Temperature and Curing Time
For the strongest possible bond, apply the emblem when the ambient temperature and the vehicle''s surface temperature are between 65F and 90F. If it is too cold, the adhesive will be too firm to "wet" the surface properly; if it is too hot, it may slide during the initial set. After application, apply firm, even pressure across the entire surface of the emblem for at least 30 seconds. Most importantly, avoid washing your car or exposing the emblem to moisture for at least 24 to 48 hours to allow the adhesive to fully cure and reach its maximum strength.
