Tech Tips & Installation Advice

• Check for Binding: After installation, move the linkage through its full range of motion by hand. Ensure the hex bar or down-rods do not make contact with the fan shroud, fuel lines, or spark plug wires. Any binding can lead to a stuck throttle or erratic idle.
• Synchronizing the Carbs: Use a high-quality airflow meter (Snail Type) to measure the intake pull at each carburetor. Adjust the threaded down-rods until the airflow is identical on both sides at idle and again at roughly 2,000 RPM.
• Wide Open Throttle (WOT): Have an assistant floor the gas pedal while you check the carburetors. Both butterflies should hit their stops at the exact same time the pedal hits the floor. If they don't, adjust the cable pull or the linkage arm position.
• Lubrication: Apply a drop of light machine oil or a small dab of dry graphite lubricant to the heim joints (rod ends) periodically. This keeps the movement smooth and prevents premature wear on the joints in dusty off-road environments.
• Hex Bar Centering: Ensure the hex bar is centered between the two mounting brackets. There should be a very small amount of side-to-side "play" to prevent the bar from seizing up as the engine grows slightly during thermal expansion.
