Pro Tech Tips for Installation

Tip 1: Scrub the Oil Galleys Even though this crankshaft is nitrided and micro-polished at the factory, you must thoroughly clean the internal oil passages before installation. Use a dedicated galley brush and solvent to ensure no residual machining debris or shipping preservatives remain to contaminate your new bearings.

Tip 2: Set End Play Precisely With the 8-dowel configuration, your flywheel fitment will be much tighter than a stock unit. Always use a dial indicator to set your crankshaft end play to the factory specification (typically .003" to .005") using three shims. Never attempt to "feel" the end play by hand on a fresh build.

Tip 3: Check Bearing Tang and Pin Alignment When laying the crank into the case, verify that the main bearing dowel pins are perfectly seated in the bearing shells. A common mistake is slightly displacing a bearing, which can lead to oil starvation or a cracked engine case once the case halves are torqued down.
