1. Relax the Material: After removing the carpet from its packaging, lay the pieces flat in a warm area or under direct sunlight for 30 to 60 minutes. This softens the backing and allows any shipping creases to flatten out, making the carpet much easier to mold to the contours of your trunk.

2. Surface Preparation is Key: Before applying any adhesive, ensure the metal trunk floor is completely clean and dry. Use a mild degreaser to remove old glue or oils. If you spot any surface rust, this is the perfect time to treat it with a rust-inhibitor paint to protect the chassis before it is covered.

3. Use a High-Tack Spray Adhesive: For a professional-grade installation that won't shift over time, use a heavy-duty automotive trim adhesive. Spray both the back of the carpet and the metal surface, wait for the glue to become "tacky" (usually 1-2 minutes), and then press the carpet firmly into place starting from the center and working your way out to the edges.
