Strip the Storage Paint: The black coating on this header is a temporary storage paint intended only to prevent rust during transit and storage. It will chip, scratch, and burn off quickly once the engine reaches operating temperature. For a professional finish, strip the storage paint and apply a high-quality, high-heat header paint or ceramic coating before installation.

Verify Gasket Sealing: To prevent exhaust leaks that can cause popping on deceleration or damage to your cylinder heads, always use new gaskets during installation. Because Type 4 engines run hotter than standard Type 1 engines, using high-quality copper gaskets is recommended to ensure a long-lasting, airtight seal against the exhaust ports.

Check Engine Tin Clearance: When installing 1-1/2 inch performance tubing on 1700cc-2000cc engines, check for adequate clearance between the header pipes and the rear engine tin. Minor trimming of the tin may be necessary to prevent metal-on-metal rattling and to ensure the exhaust does not transfer excessive heat directly into the engine compartment.
