PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Precision fuel metering is the heartbeat of any high-performance air-cooled Volkswagen engine, and the EMPI F66 Emulsion Tube is a critical component in achieving that perfect stoichiometric balance. Situated deep within the carburetor''s main circuit, the emulsion tube is responsible for mixing air from the air corrector jet with raw fuel from the main jet before it reaches the venturi. This pre-atomization process is what determines the "curve" of your fuel delivery. If your Beetle or Bus is suffering from a frustrating stumble during the transition from the idle circuit to the main circuit, or if you are experiencing a lean "flat spot" at mid-range RPMs, the F66 emulsion tube is often the missing piece of the tuning puzzle. Crafted to exacting tolerances, this EMPI component ensures that your fuel enters the intake manifold as a fine, combustible mist rather than heavy droplets, maximizing throttle response and engine efficiency.
The F66 profile is specifically engineered for versatility across several popular carburetor platforms, including the ubiquitous Weber DGV and DFV Progressive series, as well as ICT and EPC single-barrel units. In the world of VW tuning, the Progressive 32/36 DGV is a staple for those seeking a balance between fuel economy and power, but it is notoriously sensitive to emulsion tube selection. The F66 provides a specific hole pattern that delays or advances the aeration of the fuel column, allowing the tuner to "fine-tune" exactly when the main circuit kicks in. Whether you are running a stock 1600cc dual-port or a modified 1914cc weekend warrior, using genuine EMPI replacement parts ensures that your carburetor maintains its calibration integrity. Don''t settle for "close enough" when it comes to your engine''s fuel delivery; choose the F66 to ensure your flat-four screams through the gears without hesitation.

PRO TIPS FROM THE SHOP
Tip 1: Master the Transition Zone
If you are experiencing a "pop" or a hesitation right as you tip into the throttle on your 32/36 Progressive carb, don''t immediately assume your main jet is too small. The emulsion tube, like this F66, controls the timing of the fuel delivery. If the holes in your current tube are letting in too much air too early, the mixture will lean out momentarily before the main jet can take over. Switching to the F66 can often smooth out this transition, providing a linear power band that makes your VW much more drivable in city traffic.
Tip 2: Inspection is Key During Rebuilds
Emulsion tubes are often overlooked during a "quick" carb spray-down. Because they feature very small, precisely angled holes, even a microscopic amount of varnish or old fuel residue can partially block an orifice. This disruption changes the turbulence of the fuel air mixture inside the tube. Whenever you have your DGV or ICT apart, pull the emulsion tubes and hold them up to a bright light. If you see any restriction that a soak in carb cleaner won''t fix, replace them with new EMPI units to ensure your cylinders are receiving identical fuel charges.
Tip 3: Coordinate with Your Air Corrector
Remember that the emulsion tube works in a "sandwich" between the main jet (on the bottom) and the air corrector jet (on the top). The F66 is a fantastic middle-of-the-road performer, but it performs best when paired with the correct air corrector. If your engine is running rich at high RPMs even with the F66, try increasing your air corrector jet size by one increment. This allows more air into the F66 tube at high vacuum, leaning out the mixture at the top end without affecting your low-end grunt.
