Route Wires Away from Moving Parts: In engines with air conditioning, the compressor and additional belts create a crowded environment. Always ensure the condenser lead wire is secured and routed away from the AC belt and pulleys to prevent the insulation from being rubbed through, which would cause an immediate engine stall.

Ensure a Solid Ground: The condenser grounds through its mounting bracket to the distributor body. Before tightening the screw, use a small piece of sandpaper to clean the mounting surface. A poor ground connection is a common cause of weak spark and "phantom" ignition issues in vintage Volkswagens.

Check for Point Pitting: When replacing your condenser, always inspect your ignition points. If you see a "mountain and valley" shape on the point contacts, your old condenser was failing.
