Pro Tech Tips for Installation

Replace in Pairs: Always replace your ignition points at the same time you install a new condenser. A failing condenser often causes the points to burn or pit prematurely; starting with a fresh set of both ensures maximum longevity for your tune-up.

Ensure a Solid Ground: The condenser body must have a clean, metal-to-metal connection where it mounts to the distributor. If there is rust, grease, or heavy paint on the mounting surface, the condenser cannot ground properly, which may result in a weak spark or a "no-start" condition.

Verify Lead Routing: When installing the lead wire to the terminal, ensure it is routed away from the distributor's center cam and moving weights. A wire that rubs against moving parts will eventually short out, leading to intermittent engine stalling or complete ignition failure.
