Kadron 40/44 Carburetor Base Gaskets - Performance Manifold Seals (Pair)
Ensure a leak-free intake system with these premium Kadron Carburetor Base Gaskets from Appletree Auto. Specifically designed for the popular Kadron (Solex/Brosol) 40mm and 44mm dual carburetor kits, these gaskets provide the critical seal between the carburetor base and the intake manifold. A secure, airtight seal at this junction is essential for maintaining a stable idle, consistent air-fuel ratios, and peak engine performance in your air-cooled Volkswagen.
Sold as a pair, these gaskets are manufactured from high-quality, fuel-resistant gasket material that resists compression-set and thermal breakdown. Whether you are installing a brand-new Kadron kit or performing routine maintenance on your existing setup, these gaskets are a vital component to prevent vacuum leaks that can cause lean running conditions and engine overheating. Trust Appletree Auto for the precise-fitting components required to keep your dual-carb setup tuned and responsive.
Product Fitment & Compatibility
These base gaskets are designed for Volkswagen Type 1 engines equipped with dual Kadron (Brosol/Solex) 40mm or 44mm performance carburetor kits. They are compatible with most standard Kadron-style intake manifolds.

Tech Tips & Installation Advice
- Surface Preparation: Before installation, ensure that both the manifold flange and the carburetor base are perfectly flat and free of old gasket material or burrs. Use a scraper and a mild solvent to clean the surfaces; a clean mating surface is the key to preventing stubborn vacuum leaks.
- The "Dry" Method: These gaskets are designed to be installed dry. Avoid using RTV or liquid sealants, as these can squeeze into the intake tract or clog the small vacuum ports on the carburetor base, leading to tuning issues.
- Even Torque: When mounting the carburetor to the manifold, tighten the nuts in an alternating fashion to ensure even pressure across the gasket. Over-tightening can warp the carburetor base or strip the manifold studs, while under-tightening will lead to leaks.
- Vacuum Leak Testing: After installation and with the engine running, you can test the seal by spraying a small amount of carburetor cleaner around the base of the carb. If the engine RPM changes, you likely have a vacuum leak that needs to be addressed.
- Replacement Interval: Gaskets should always be replaced whenever the carburetor is removed from the manifold. Reusing old, compressed gaskets is a common cause of hard-to-diagnose lean spots in the RPM range.
