To get the most accurate reading for engine tuning, always tap your vacuum line into a "manifold vacuum" source rather than a "ported vacuum" source. Manifold vacuum is located below the carburetor throttle plates and provides a strong signal at idle, which is critical for diagnosing valve issues or timing problems. If you are running dual Weber or Dellorto carburetors, use a T-fitting to link the vacuum ports of both manifolds to get a balanced average reading. 2. Diagnosing Engine Health via Needle Movement

Never route the nylon line near the exhaust headers or heater boxes, as the heat will melt the plastic and cause an immediate vacuum leak.
