1. Proper Mounting and Reinforcement

When installing these suspension seats into a standard VW Beetle floor pan, it is crucial to use high-quality seat adapters or custom-fabricated mounts. Because off-road driving puts significantly more stress on the mounting points than street driving, we highly recommend reinforcing the floor pan area where the brackets bolt down. Using large-diameter "fender washers" or backing plates underneath the floor pan will help distribute the load and prevent the bolts from pulling through the sheet metal during a hard landing or an accident. Always ensure the seat is level and at a comfortable height to maintain a clear line of sight over the hood or dash.

2. Harness Alignment and Safety

To get the most safety out of these seats, you should pair them with a 5-point harness system. When routing your belts through the integrated slots, ensure that the shoulder straps are mounted to a roll bar or cross-member that is level with or slightly below your shoulders. If the belts are mounted too low, they can cause spinal compression during an impact. Also, make sure the lap belt is worn low across the hips and not across the stomach.
