1. Clean to Bare Metal: To achieve a strong, clean weld, you must remove all shipping primer, rust, and debris from the mating surfaces of both the new panel and the car's chassis. We recommend using a flap disc or wire wheel to reach bare metal, followed by a coat of weld-through primer on the overlapping edges to prevent internal rust.

2. Use the Stitch Welding Method: Thin sheet metal can easily warp under the high heat of a continuous weld. Once the panel is clamped into place, use small tack welds spaced several inches apart. Gradually fill in the gaps with short "stitches," moving from one side of the panel to the other to allow the metal to cool between passes.

3. Don't Skip the Seam Sealer: After the welding is complete and the beads have been ground smooth, apply a high-quality automotive seam sealer to every joint on both the top and bottom sides. This creates an airtight and watertight seal that prevents moisture from being trapped in the lap joints, which is the primary cause of premature floor pan failure.
