This EMPI metal replacement floor panel (Part #00-3551-0) is engineered for the front right (passenger side) section of the chassis. It is designed to fit the following Volkswagen models:

• VW Beetle (Type 1): 1950 through 1977
• VW Super Beetle: 1971 through 1972

This panel serves as a direct replacement for OEM number 111-701-060Q. Please note that this is a repair panel and does not include seat rails; your existing rails must be transferred or replaced separately.

Pro Tech Tips for Installation

Tip 1: Prioritize Precise Trimming. When replacing floor sections, do not cut out the old metal until you have the new panel in hand. Overlay the EMPI panel over the damaged area and scribe a line slightly inside the panel's edge. This allows you to trim for a perfect butt-weld or leave a small flange for a lap-weld, ensuring the best structural integrity.

Tip 2: Prepare for Clean Welds. VW floor pans are often coated in thick undercoating or decades of road grime. Use a flap disc or wire wheel to grind the chassis mounting flange down to shiny, bare metal. Applying a "weld-through" zinc primer to the mating surfaces before installation will help prevent "rust sandwich" corrosion between the new panel and the frame head/chassis rails.

Tip 3: Manage Heat to Prevent Warping. Sheet metal is prone to warping if it gets too hot. Instead of running long continuous beads, use a series of "stitch" welds or plug welds (if using the factory-style spot weld locations). Move around the panel, allowing one area to cool before adding more weld nearby, to keep the floor pan flat and properly aligned with the heater channels.
