1. Optimize Your Weld Penetration

Since these tabs are 1/4-inch thick, they act as a significant heat sink compared to thinner chassis tubing. To ensure a professional-grade bond, always bevel the bottom edge of the tab where it meets the tube or plate. This creates a "V" groove that allows your weld bead to penetrate deeper into the core of the metal rather than just sitting on the surface. 2. Use a Dummy Bolt for Perfect Alignment

Instead, slide a 1/2-inch grade 8 bolt through both tabs with a spacer or the actual component you are mounting in between them. 3. Proper Surface Preparation is Non-Negotiable
