1. Proper Surface Preparation for Structural Integrity

Before you spark up the welder, it is absolutely critical to remove the mill scale from these steel tabs. Mild steel comes with a thin layer of oxidation from the manufacturing process that can contaminate your weld, leading to porosity or a brittle joint.
