OVERVIEW
When you are pushing the limits of your air-cooled machine, whether it is a high-speed sand rail or a show-quality street cruiser, you cannot afford to compromise on your hydraulic system. The Latest Rage 3/4-inch Rectangular Master Cylinder is engineered to deliver the perfect blend of aesthetic brilliance and mechanical precision. Featuring a stunning polished finish, this master cylinder is designed as a high-performance replacement for standard units found in CNC, Neal, or Latest Rage pedal assemblies. The 3/4-inch bore size is the industry standard for achieving a firm, responsive pedal feel that provides the driver with maximum feedback and control. By utilizing a rectangular reservoir design, this unit provides a larger fluid capacity than many round alternatives, which helps to dissipate heat and prevent the introduction of air into the lines during aggressive driving maneuvers.
At Appletree Auto, we understand that the details make the build, and this polished master cylinder is the ultimate finishing touch for any custom VW project. The robust aluminum construction ensures that the unit remains lightweight while resisting the internal corrosion that often plagues stock cast-iron cylinders. The universal mounting configuration, featuring a vertical 12-to-6 o''clock bolt pattern, allows for a seamless bolt-on installation for most aftermarket floor-mount pedal clusters. Whether you are building a new hydraulic brake circuit or a heavy-duty clutch system, this master cylinder provides the displacement necessary to actuate wheel cylinders or calipers with ease. Don''t settle for a dull, cast-finish component when you can upgrade to a part that performs as well as it looks, ensuring your VW remains both safe and stylish for years to come.

PRO TIPS
1. Bench Bleed Before Installation
One of the most common mistakes when installing a new master cylinder is attempting to bleed the system while the unit is already mounted in the vehicle. To ensure all air is removed from the internal piston area, you must bench bleed the master cylinder first. Secure the unit in a vise, fill the reservoir with fresh DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid, and use a bleeding kit to loop the output port back into the reservoir. Slowly stroke the piston until no air bubbles are visible in the lines. This ensures a rock-solid pedal right from the start and prevents air from being pushed deep into your brake lines, which can be much harder to remove later.
2. Verify Pushrod Clearance and Geometry
When installing this unit into a CNC or Neal pedal assembly, it is critical to check the pushrod length and alignment. There should be a very slight amount of free-play (roughly 1/16th of an inch) between the pushrod and the master cylinder piston when the pedal is at rest. If the pushrod is too long, the piston will not return fully, which prevents the compensating port from opening and causes the brakes to "drag" or lock up as the fluid heats up and expands. Always ensure the pushrod enters the cylinder at a straight angle to prevent premature wear on the internal seals and the cylinder bore.
3. Choose the Correct Fluid and Maintain the Finish
To keep the polished finish of your Latest Rage master cylinder looking like new, avoid spilling brake fluid on the exterior during the filling or bleeding process. Brake fluid is a powerful solvent and can dull or damage the polished surface if left to sit. If a spill occurs, clean it immediately with a mild soap and water solution. Additionally, always use high-quality, name-brand DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid. Never mix silicone-based DOT 5 fluid with glycol-based DOT 3 or 4, as they are incompatible and will cause the internal seals to swell and fail, leadings to a total loss of hydraulic pressure.
