Tip 1: Ensure a Clean Mating Surface. Before sliding the new urethane boot onto the intake manifold, use a fine-grit sandpaper or a scotch-brite pad to clean the aluminum manifold ends. Because urethane is denser and less compliant than standard rubber, any old residue or corrosion on the manifold can prevent a perfect vacuum seal.

Tip 2: Use Quality Clamps. We highly recommend using wide-band stainless steel clamps rather than thin, narrow ones. The urethane material handles heat cycles better than rubber, but narrow clamps can "dig" into the material over time. A wider clamp provides even pressure distribution, which is essential for maintaining a steady idle and preventing lean-run conditions.

Tip 3: Replace in Pairs. Although these are sold individually, you should always replace both intake boots at the same time. If one boot has reached the end of its service life or is showing signs of hardening, the other side is likely in the same condition. Replacing both ensures balanced intake vacuum across all four cylinders, making your carburetor tuning much more consistent.
