However, NEVER use sealant or tape on the AN-4 flared ends or the 3/16-inch inverted flare connections. These are designed to seal on the metal-to-metal taper; adding tape to these surfaces will actually cause leaks by preventing the flare from seating properly.
Tip 2: Optimal Routing for Longevity
While the braided stainless steel is incredibly tough, it can act like a saw if it rubs against your chassis or wiring harness. Use the included line clamps to secure the 36-inch hose away from moving parts like shift couplers or CV joints. Additionally, ensure the line is kept at least 3 to 4 inches away from exhaust headers. Even though it is heat-resistant, extreme radiant heat can eventually degrade the inner liner, leading to a "spongy" pedal feel when the fluid gets too hot.
Tip 3: The Secret to a Perfect Bleed
Hydraulic clutches can be notoriously difficult to bleed because air bubbles like to hide in the high spots of the 36-inch line. If you are having trouble getting a firm pedal, try "gravity bleeding" the system first by opening the slave cylinder bleeder and letting fluid run through for several minutes. If air remains trapped, we recommend using a pressure bleeder or briefly unmounting the slave cylinder (while keeping the piston compressed) so that the bleeder valve is at the absolute highest point in the system during the bleeding process.
