OVERVIEW
Monitoring your engine''s oil pressure is the single most important task for any air-cooled Volkswagen owner, and the QuickCar Racing Products Nylon Tubing Kit provides the reliable connection you need to keep an eye on your vitals. Whether you are cruising in a vintage Type 1 Beetle or pushing the limits in a high-performance Sand Rail, this 10-foot nylon line kit is designed to withstand the vibrations and pressures common in high-performance automotive environments. Unlike brittle, aged plastic lines that can crack and spray oil throughout your interior, this high-quality nylon tubing offers the perfect balance of flexibility and strength. It is an essential upgrade for anyone installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge or replacing a compromised line to ensure that your Flat-Four stays protected from the catastrophic damage caused by undetected pressure drops.
QuickCar is a legendary name in the racing industry, and their 61-710 kit brings that track-proven durability to your VW project. This kit includes the necessary ferrules to create a secure, leak-free seal at both the engine block and the gauge head. The 10-foot length is specifically advantageous for Volkswagen applications; because our engines are located in the rear, traditional short-length kits often fall short of reaching the dashboard. With 10 feet of line, you have plenty of slack to route the tubing safely through the chassis or center tunnel, away from moving parts and heat sources. This is a professional-grade solution for enthusiasts who demand accuracy and peace of mind when monitoring their Volkswagen''s performance on the street, the strip, or the sand dunes.

PRO TIPS
Tip 1: Achieve a Perfect, Leak-Free Cut
When preparing your nylon line, never use wire cutters or pliers to trim the tubing to length. These tools will crush the round profile of the tube, making it nearly impossible to slide the ferrule on correctly and significantly increasing the risk of a high-pressure oil leak. Instead, use a brand-new, sharp utility knife or a specialized hose cutter to make a perfectly square, 90-degree cut. A clean, flat edge ensures that the tubing seats fully into the back of the gauge and the engine adapter, allowing the ferrule to compress evenly for a permanent, professional seal.
Tip 2: Safe Routing and Heat Protection
In a rear-engine Volkswagen, the path from the engine case to the dashboard is long and full of potential hazards. Always route your nylon tubing through the center tunnel or along the main chassis rails using rubber-insulated P-clamps to prevent chafing. Most importantly, ensure the line stays far away from the exhaust headers and the heater boxes. While nylon is durable, extreme heat from the exhaust can soften the line, leading to a rupture. If you must pass through a tinware hole or the firewall, always use a rubber grommet to prevent the sharp metal edges from vibrating through the line over time.
Tip 3: Don''t Over-Tighten the Compression Nut
One of the most common mistakes during installation is over-torquing the compression nut at the back of the gauge. You only need to tighten the nut enough to crush the ferrule onto the nylon tubing. Typically, this is "finger tight" plus about one full turn with a wrench. Over-tightening can actually "neck down" or cut into the nylon tubing, creating a weak point that will eventually fail under pressure. After your first test drive, check the fittings for any signs of "weeping" oil; if you see a tiny drop, give the nut an additional 1/8th turn until the seal is bone-dry.
