The Rope-In Technique: To install the glass, place a thin nylon cord (about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick) into the outer groove of the rubber seal. With the seal on the glass, have an assistant press the window against the car frame from the outside while you slowly pull the rope from the inside. This action pulls the rubber lip over the metal flange of the body for a secure seat.

Use Proper Lubrication: Never install window rubber dry. Use a mixture of dish soap and water or a dedicated silicone-based glass lubricant on both the rubber-to-glass and rubber-to-body channels. This prevents the rubber from binding or tearing during the "roping" process and helps the seal settle into the corners correctly.

Check for Proper Seating: Once the window is in place, use your palms to firmly but carefully slap the glass around the edges from the outside. This vibration helps the rubber lip fully expand over the metal flange. If you notice any gaps in the corners, use a plastic (non-marring) trim tool to gently pull the lip into the correct position to ensure a water-tight seal.
