Tip 1: Proper Surface Preparation. This exhaust system is supplied in a raw steel finish with a thin layer of black storage paint. This coating is intended only to prevent rust during transit and storage; it is not a high-heat finish and will burn off during your first drive. For the best results, we recommend stripping the storage paint and applying a high-quality, high-heat header paint or ceramic coating before installation to prevent corrosion.

Tip 2: Ensure a Leak-Free Seal. Always use brand new exhaust gaskets when installing a new system. To prevent "exhaust tick" or performance-robbing leaks, ensure the exhaust port surfaces on your cylinder heads are clean and flat. Tighten the flange nuts evenly in a cross-pattern to ensure the header seats perfectly against the head.

Tip 3: Alignment and Clearance. Before final torqueing of the hardware, check the alignment of the chrome tips within your rear apron cutouts. Because these systems are designed to fit stock holes, slight adjustments may be necessary depending on the age of your engine mounts or the brand of your rear apron. Ensuring a small gap between the tips and the bodywork will prevent unwanted vibrations and heat damage to your paint.
