Tech Tips & Installation Advice

• Differentiating the Seals: This fitting uses two different sealing methods. The 1/8" NPT side uses tapered threads to seal, while the 3/16" side uses a mechanical Inverted Flare seat. It is critical to treat these differently during installation.
• NPT Thread Sealant: On the 1/8" NPT (pipe thread) side, we recommend using a small amount of high-quality thread sealant or brake-fluid-resistant Teflon tape. This helps ensure a leak-proof seal as the tapered threads tighten into the port.
• No Sealant on the Flare: Never use Teflon tape or sealant on the 3/16" inverted flare side. The seal is created by the metal-on-metal contact of the brake line flare against the internal seat of the adapter. Sealants on these threads can actually prevent the flare from seating properly, leading to leaks.
• Use Proper Tools: To prevent damage to the fitting or your brake line nuts, always use a dedicated flare nut (line) wrench. Standard open-end wrenches can easily round off the corners of the hardware before the proper torque is reached.
• Air Removal: Any time a hydraulic fitting is installed or loosened, air enters the system. You must perform a complete brake bleeding procedure to ensure all air bubbles are removed. Failure to bleed the system will result in a "spongy" pedal and significantly reduced stopping power.
