OVERVIEW
When it comes to sealing the lifter galley and protecting your valvetrain, JayCee''s Leak Proof Pushrod Tubes are the undisputed gold standard in the air-cooled VW industry. Born from a legacy of high-performance drag racing and precision engineering, these tubes solve the most common headache for VW owners: the persistent oil leak at the cylinder head and engine case junction. Unlike stock, flimsy metal tubes that are prone to crushing or losing their tension over time, JayCee''s two-piece spring-loaded design provides constant, uniform pressure against the seals. This ensures a bone-dry engine even under the extreme vibrations and thermal expansion cycles common in high-performance street and competition engines. If you are tired of oil spots on your driveway and want a component that matches the quality of a professional-grade build, these red anodized beauties are the ultimate solution.
Beyond their superior sealing capabilities, these pushrod tubes are engineered with a significantly larger internal diameter than factory units. This extra clearance is critical for enthusiasts running high-lift rockers or heavy-duty pushrods, as it eliminates the risk of the pushrod rubbing against the tube walla common cause of premature wear and catastrophic engine failure. Each tube is CNC-machined in-house from premium 6061 extruded aluminum and features a vibrant red anodized finish that adds a high-end, custom look to your engine bay. The kit is fully comprehensive, featuring eight double-ground springs for maximum tension, internal Buna O-rings for a secondary leak barrier, and heavy-duty retainer washers. Best of all, because they are spring-loaded, you can install or replace these tubes without having to pull your cylinder heads, saving you hours of labor and the cost of a full top-end gasket set.

PRO TIPS
1. Lubricate Your O-Rings and Seals
Before assembly, it is absolutely vital to apply a thin coat of clean engine oil or a high-quality assembly lube to the internal Buna O-rings and the outer end seals. Installing these "dry" can cause the O-ring to roll or tear as the two pieces of the tube slide together, which will lead to a vacuum leak or oil seepage later. A properly lubricated seal ensures that the telescoping action is smooth and that the O-ring seats perfectly within its machined groove for a permanent, leak-proof barrier. Also, ensure the case and head surfaces are perfectly clean of old gasket material before seating the new tubes.
2. Verify Pushrod Clearance on High-Lift Setups
While JayCee tubes are designed with a larger bore to handle high-performance valvetrains, you should always rotate the engine by hand several times after installation before firing it up. If you are running 1.4 or 1.5 ratio rockers, check the clearance between the pushrod and the inner wall of the tube at full lift. If you hear a "tink" sound or feel resistance, you may need to slightly adjust the tube''s orientation. The beauty of the JayCee design is that the larger diameter usually makes this a non-issue, but a master builder always verifies clearance to prevent metal shavings from entering the oil system.
3. Proper Spring Compression Technique
When installing the tubes while the heads are already on the engine, use a pair of channel locks or a dedicated pushrod tube tool to compress the spring. Be careful not to mar the anodized finish; many builders wrap the tool teeth in electrical tape or use a shop rag as a buffer. Once the tube is compressed, guide the ends into the case and head bores. Make sure the heavy-duty retainer washer is seated squarely against the spring. If the tube doesn''t feel like it has "snapped" into place, it might be hung up on the edge of the bore. A slight wiggle will usually seat it, ensuring the spring pressure is doing its job to keep the engine sealed tight.
