Ensure Flange Flatness: Before installation, check that both the carburetor base and the intake manifold flange are perfectly flat. Use a straight edge to verify. If the carburetor base is slightly warped from previous over-tightening, you can carefully flatten it using fine-grit sandpaper on a piece of glass or a machinist plate.

Install Gaskets Dry: Do not use RTV, silicone, or liquid gasket sealants on these gaskets. These materials are designed to be installed dry. Liquid sealants can squeeze out into the intake tract or, worse, break off and clog the sensitive internal passages and jets of your Weber or HPMX carburetors.

Use a Gradual Torque Pattern: To prevent warping the carburetor base plate, tighten the mounting nuts in small increments, alternating from one side to the other. Over-torquing the nuts is a common mistake that leads to vacuum leaks; you only need enough pressure to compress the gasket material for a complete seal.
