3. Proper Welding Technique is Critical
Since this is a stainless steel weld-on component, you must use the correct welding process to ensure a crack-free joint. We strongly suggest using a TIG welder with 308L or 309L stainless steel filler rod for the cleanest and strongest bond. If you are using a MIG welder, ensure you are using stainless steel wire and the appropriate "Tri-Mix" gas (Helium/Argon/CO2). Welding stainless to mild steel headers is possible but requires 309L filler to prevent the weld from becoming brittle. Always clean the mating surfaces thoroughly with a dedicated stainless steel wire brush to prevent carbon contamination, which can lead to premature rusting at the weld site.
