1. Verify Your Ring Gap and Orientation

Even with high-quality AA Pistons, you must never skip the process of checking your piston ring end gap (rings sold separately). 3. Precise Deck Height Measurements

When installing new pistons, always measure your deck heightthe distance from the top of the piston at Top Dead Center (TDC) to the top edge of the cylinder. For a reliable street engine, aim for a deck height between .040'' and .060''. If your deck height is too tight, you risk the piston hitting the head at high RPM; if it is too loose, your compression ratio will drop, leading to a sluggish engine. Use copper or steel cylinder base shims to fine-tune this measurement for the perfect balance of power and reliability.
