Pro Tech Tips for Installation

Check for Flange Flatness: Before installing your new gaskets, use a straight edge to check both the carburetor base and the intake manifold flange for warping. Because these components are subject to high heat, they can often bow over time. If the surfaces are not perfectly flat, even a new gasket may fail to prevent a vacuum leak.

Install Gaskets Dry: It is highly recommended to install these gaskets completely dry. Avoid using RTV, silicone, or other liquid gasket sealants. These chemicals can squeeze out into the carburetor throat or internal passages, potentially clogging jets and causing significant tuning issues.

Uniform Torque Sequence: When mounting the carburetor, tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern in small increments. This ensures that the gasket is compressed evenly across the entire surface. Over-tightening one side first can crack the carburetor base or cause the gasket to pinch and leak.
