Cam Bearings, Double Thrust, For Type 1 VW Engines

111-198-541HDBR

Stock VW Cam bearings only had 1 thrust bearing, this set provides 2 to halve the thrust bearing wear. This is a really good idea to use on any engine that uses stiffer than stock valves prings, OR uses a bigger than stock camshaft.
Includes 6 shells to do 1 engine.

It's important to note that each thrust bearing will have a bearing tang on it. The case only has one notch for the bearing tang, on the normal thrust bearing half of the case. To install the 2nd Thrust Bearing, you must either file another notch in the bearing saddle, or (what we do) is grind/file off the tang on the 2nd thrust bearing. Just make it smooth. The bearing will not move because bearing crush holds it in, and the regular thrust bearing tang is still present.

Proper bearing installation is very important! Install the bearings into the case and then install the camshaft. Next, tap the cam fore and aft end to end using a soft piece of wood or a brass drift and use some force. This seats the bearing properly into the case. Repeat this 4-5 times back and forth. THEN, you can check your end play and get an accurate measurement
